Ed Seykota is a commodities and futures trader, trading educator and trading systems developer.
Seykota holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Industrial Management from MIT. In 1970 he pioneered systems trading using early punch card computers to test his trading strategies. His entry into the world of trading systems had in part been inspired by reading material by Richard Donchian on mechanical trend following systems.
He has mentored many successful traders including Michael Marcus, David Druz, Jason Dekker of Dekker Capital Management and Jason Russell of Salida Capital.
Having spent some time working at a brokerage firm Seykota went out on his own. He applied his trading systems to a small number of accounts and his own money and achieved a staggering degree of success.
Ed organizes and oversees groups of traders called ‘tribes’. These tribes are groups of traders who meet regularly to discuss trading methods and the psychology of trading.
Seykota resides in Incline Village – Crystal Bay, Nevada, on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
