Bill Lipschutz

Bill Lipschutz is a celebrated foreign exchange trader and co-founder and Director of Portfolio Management at Hathersage Capital Management.

Lipschutz received a BFA in Architectural Design from Cornell University and a MBA in Finance from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University.

Lipschutz joined Salomon Brothers in May 1982 as one of the original members of the newly formed Foreign Exchange Department.  He was the principal trader for Salomon Brothersโ€™ proprietary foreign exchange account from 1984 to 1990.  In 1989 Lipschutz was appointed  Managing Director and Global Head of Foreign Exchange. Jack Schwager described Lipschutz as ‘Salomon Brothers’ largest and most successful currency trader’.  Schwager estimated that Lipschutz’s personal trading accounted for over half a billion dollars profit for Salomon during the eight years he was there.

In 1990 he formed North Tower Management and in 1991 he founded Rowayton Capital Management. Lipschutz currently the Director of Portfolio Management for Hathersage Capital Management.
