The big deal is the software. The software is pretty good, as in among the best of the canned variety. Very good graphics ability. TS Easy Language, which is how you write your custom apps, be they graphical displays or systems is vastly better than Genesis if only because Genesis doesn't support loops. TS commissions are competitive. Where they get paid is charging fees for data/market access that is available free elsewhere. TS data coverage is better than IB's where a large fraction of the trades are not sent to the users. However, TS is changing some policies, making it very difficult to use their software on two or more computers. That means if you travel some, but use a desktop for your paired 22 or 25 inch monitors, you're screwed. Check this week's policy about the number of computers allowed before you go to TS with your account.

What they evolved to is a 747 airliner great if you hav a year or two to become proficient. But more than likely there will be a wrong click when you need a correct one and lose a winning trade. Not Built for a short learning curve. Many, many hours of tutorials, many phone calls. Some of the tech's are very helpfull but there are the ones who just direct you to the online tutorials (which are long and frustrating) A day trader should look elsewhere.
