Och graduated with a B.S. in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Like fellow hedge fund managers Eddie Lampert and Richard Perry – Och worked in the Risk Arbitrage Unit of Goldman Sachs under Robert Rubin. He spent a total of eleven years at Goldman Sachs before founding Och-Ziff in 1994 together with the Ziff family.
