Stephen Mandel, a protégé of hedge fund pioneer Julian Robertson at Tiger Managment, founded Lone Pine Capital in 1997 – a long/short and long-only hedge fund.

Having graduated from Dartmouth College, Mandel received an MBA from Harvard University and gained experience working as an analyst at Goldman Sachs.
