<description>Excuse me I am getting confused here, I read many articles on the Web and in books on MACD, and what you are calling Signal Line is -according to my sources- the MACD (26,12,9) line, after all the MACD is the difference between EMA26 and EMA12. The equation for the Signal Line is = MACD OF T-1 + SMOOTHING FACTOR FOR 9 DAY MACD TIMES (THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENT AND PREVIOUS MACD) Also the reference line you are describing is what others call the slow line. Excuse my ignorance but I really need to set the terminology right before I start using the MACD.

Would appreciate it very much if you can help in this.
