Trading capital needed to get started

I would like some opinions to the age old question, how much capital does a trader need to start trading?

In either the stocks, futures or forex market....

I would say wait till you have 100k+ to trade with and savings in the bank also (if you want to trade professionally) - if you want to have a punt or 2 on the side - of course you only need a couple of hundred bucks to get started in forex!
