Senior Vol Trader needed for a global hedge fund client
Senior Volatility Trader
We are seeking a Senior Volatility Trader with 5+ years of volatility trading experience at a buy-side firm or a prop desk at a top-tier sell-side firm. This individual will be based in our Dallas headquarters and report directly to the Portfolio Manager who runs our Volatility book. This is a newly-created position resulting from the growth and profitability of our Volatility book. We are excited for this individual to help expand our team’s capabilities and capacity, thus enabling our group to continue its success going forward.
The candidate will be part of the derivatives trading team that will include a Portfolio Manager, another senior trader, a junior trader, a quantitative analyst, and a software developer. The candidate will focus on fundamentally-driven volatility trades and event-driven volatility trades. While the focus will be on the US markets, knowledge of global volatility markets is essential. The candidate must be able to construct alpha generation ideas, structure and execute trades, and manage the risk of his/her portfolio (both individually and as part of the broader volatility effort). The candidate must also be able to communicate effectively with equity analysts and leverage their knowledge to enhance alpha generation.
Qualifications
Functional:
-5+ years of volatility trading experience at a buy-side firm or a prop desk at a top-tier sell-side firm -Ability to extract alpha generation ideas from market parameters, daily news, and sell-side research; translate ideas into tradable strategies -Expertise in fundamentally-driven and event-driven volatility trading; working knowledge of stock fundamentals and valuation models -Experience and thorough knowledge of dispersion, macro trades, and relative value trades -Ability to analyze and trade structured volatility products -Experience in trade sizing based on risk/reward analysis, portfolio level risk analysis, and hedging
Personal:
-Excellent communication skills - with brokers, in-house equity analysts, sell-side analysts, and other members of the team -Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment -Strong academic record
