Electricity Futures Trading

The PJM Interconnection governs the largest electricity market globally. The New York Mercantile Exchange, NYMEX offers financially settled monthly futures contracts for on-peak and off-peak electricity transactions based on the daily floating price for each peak day of the month at the PJM western hub. The NYMEX electricity futures contract is available for trading on the NYMEX ClearPort electronic trading platform.

PJM Interconnection Monthly Peak Electricity Futures Contract Specifications:

Trading Unit: 40 megawatt hours (Mwh) per peak day (between 19 and 23 days) depending on the month.

Minimum Price Fluctuation/Tick Value: $0.05 per Mwh.

Trading Hours: The contract is available for trading from 6:00 PM Sundays through 5:15 PM Fridays.

Trading Months: The current year plus the next five calendar years.

Trading Platform: NYMEX ClearPort

Trading Symbol: JM
